If your horse dies, get off. -source unknown
I had to laugh out loud. such simple wisdom, yet so penetrating. how often do we continue trying to ride a dead horse?
recognize any of these? persisting in a conversation with somone who has already been emotionally triggered and cannot hear clearly any more ... saying the same thing to our kids over and over again without realizing that our voice sounds like the droning of Charlie Brown's teacher to them ... maintaining the same mindless daily habits even though they deaden our life force ... continually complaining about a situation that bothers us without taking any action to change it.
care to join me in a dead horse hunt today? I figure they should be easy prey since they can't run away!
look for ideas that no longer thrill you, habits that bore you, responsibilities that really aren't, stuff like that. you don't have to kill them off, since they are already dead. just stop riding them.
after you dismount, look around your inner corral for a feisty stallion who is chomping at the bit; an idea that gives you goosebumps, a bigger and bolder vision, a dream that has ripened while you were busy elsewhere. hop in THAT saddle and see where it takes you.
ahhhh, I can feel the wind in my hair already! let's race ....
